Remote Ready Mode (Offline Safety Feature)
Exploring Africa often means venturing into breathtaking but remote regions where mobile reception is patchy or nonexistent. Whether you’re climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, setting off on a multi-day walking safari, or hiking through the rugged Cederberg mountains, safety and communication remain our top priority.
That’s why our app includes Remote Ready Mode – a simple but powerful feature designed to keep you connected with our Control Centre, even when you’re off the grid.
How It Works
STEP 1
Activate Before You Go
Before heading into an area with limited or no signal, open the app and engage the Remote Ready button. Here you can quickly set:
Your start date and time
Your planned return date and time
Example: Leaving on the 17th, returning on the 19th by 18h00.
STEP 2
Automatic Monitoring
Your travel details are securely logged with our Control Centre. From that moment, your trip is tracked in our system until your safe return.
What Happens if You Don’t Check In?
If you miss your check-in deadline (e.g., by 18h00 on the 19th in the example above):
Step 1: We immediately try to contact you.
Step 2: If no response, we contact the operator of your activity and your tour operator.
Step 3: If still no confirmation, we activate our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to locate and assist you.
This layered safety net ensures that both you and your tour operator are protected, even in the most remote conditions.
Why It Matters
- Peace of mind for travelers heading off-grid.
- Reassurance for tour operators who want to know their clients are monitored.
- Swift action in emergencies when every hour counts.
With Remote Ready Mode, you’re free to focus on the adventure – knowing that if something goes wrong, help is already in motion.
